The Mine Shaft & Rock House Grille complex is northern Michigan's premier destination for family fun, food and drinks. With the history of the 'Copper Country' as its inspiration, Mine Shaft was designed to reflect Quincy Mineshaft No. 6, which still stands and overlooks Houghton. With timbered beams, ore cart tracks and the rock tables and copper-embedded bar of the Rock House, Mine Shaft environment reflects the mining era of a time gone by. Located just south of historic downtown Houghton, Mine Shaft offers a variety of entertainment options including bowling, arcade and redemption games, go-karts, miniature golf and a virtual reality roller coaster experience.
With 18 state-of-the-art bowling lanes, Mine Shaft is the largest bowling center in the Northwestern UP. Whether it is league bowling during the day and early evening, or Cosmic bowling at night, its leading-edge audio visual system supplies the background for an exciting and energy packed bowling experience. The bowling lanes are serviced by a professional wait staff to meet your culinary and beverage needs, allowing guests to bowl, drink and try made-from-scratch entrees, appetizers or desserts.
Max Flight, the virtual reality roller coaster, twirls and spins as its riders sit in the cockpit and watch the track and scenery pass by on a full screen monitor, as the moves match the turns, spins and dives.
Mine Shaft’s video arcade is home to over 40 video and redemption games that test the skills of both avid gamers and beginners alike, and offers games for every age. The redemption prize zone provides hundreds of quality merchandise items that can be purchased with tickets won in the arcade.
Weather permitting, Mine Shaft is home to the Huron Creek Speedway with its quarter mile track of twist and turns, along with a bridge and tunnel. Gas-powered 'Formula One' go-karts provide an adrenaline-pumping experience that is a guaranteed blast.
Adjacent to the raceway is the 18-hole miniature golf course, with a challenging set of par 2, par 3 and par 4 holes. Whether you’re a beginner or professional, all guests will be challenged and have loads of fun.
